Evocargo Autonomous Trucks Complete Rigorous Trials at Zhukovsky Airport
Evocargo’s autonomous platform has successfully completed a comprehensive testing campaign on the apron of Zhukovsky International Airport, demonstrating its readiness to automate ground logistics—specifically, the transfer of cargo between aircraft and terminal facilities.
Over the course of 368 hours of trial operations, the unmanned vehicle executed 150 designated routes, covering 225 kilometers across the airport’s tarmac infrastructure. The tests were conducted around the clock under demanding conditions, including heavy ground traffic and severe winter weather, with ambient temperatures ranging from -26°C to +31°C.
The vehicle’s AI-driven navigation system, which integrates advanced computer vision and a multi-sensor suite, consistently proved its ability to perform all logistical tasks autonomously, without any human driver intervention. Implementing such solutions is expected to reduce cargo handling operational expenditures by 20–35%, primarily through enhanced process predictability and uninterrupted operational flow.

The project was realized through a collaborative effort between Zhukovsky Airport, Evocargo (the Russian developer of autonomous transport solutions), and the expert team at Aerodynamics Holding, which is actively advancing various technology-driven initiatives in the aviation sector.
