COMITAS Unveils Advanced Multi‑Belt Cross‑Belt Sorter
COMITAS has introduced its latest sorting innovation: a vertical cross‑belt sorter of the multi‑belt type. This high‑speed automated system is engineered to handle mixed‑size cargo with exceptional throughput, while its vertical configuration allows seamless integration into tight floor plans—maximising valuable warehouse space.
How it works
A continuous closed track carries a chain of carriages, each fitted with transverse mini‑belts. As a carriage reaches the designated chute, the mini‑belt is activated and gently shifts the parcel perpendicular to the main flow, delivering it accurately into the target outlet.
The technology delivers outstanding precision and speed, making the multi‑belt sorter an ideal solution for modern compact fulfilment centres and high‑volume distribution hubs.
Versatility in cargo handling
The system effortlessly sorts a wide variety of items—from standard cartons, parcels, bags and letters to long‑length goods such as skis. The carriages automatically detect item length and lock together in unison to ensure stable and safe conveyance of oversized pieces.
Built for 24/7 operation
Barcodes, QR codes and RFID tags are read by high‑performance scanners, while the warehouse control system (WCS) instantly assigns a discharge destination and synchronises seamlessly with the site’s warehouse management system (WMS).
Performance that sets the standard
The COMITAS multi‑belt sorter delivers a peak throughput of over 10,000 units per hour and achieves an outstanding sortation accuracy of 99.7–100%. This dramatically reduces manual intervention, minimises human error, and cuts picking mistakes, resulting in smoother, more reliable operations.
